Spring Equinox

March 20, 2014 is the Spring Equinox. It is happening at 9:57 AM. On the Equinox night and day are exactly the same length worldwide.

The March Equinox occurs the moment the sun crosses the celestial equator. On any other day of the year, the Earth's axis tilts a little away from the sun. But on the Equinox the earth's axis neither tills away nor towards the sun.

Daylight Savings Time

Daylight Savings starts this weekend March 9, at 2:00 AM. We will loose an hour of sleep.

Benjamin Franklin started DST in 1784 to have more sunshine and save on using candles.

The United States started DST during World War I to save energy. Over the years it has changed a lot because it is controversial.

Leisure actyivity

This weekend I will be watching movies and my mother will visit me. I will watch Lion King I and II. I will also arrange and my stuffed animals on my shelve. These movies are my favorits. I love to watch movies in general.  

A New Site

We learned about the website www.kinooze.com.  It is a news website.  I learned about a new island that formed in Japan.  

Mom's Birthday

I am going home to see my mom for her birthday this weekend.  I will tell her "I love you," and give her a treat and a kiss.  

Winter Olympics

The Winter Olympics started yesterday and I watched snowboarding and bobsledding. I loved snowboarding. It was very exciting.

Cooking Class

I am starting a new class.  I will be doing a cooking class at school.  The first thing I want to make are chocolate chip cookies.  I am happy I will be cooking at school.  It will be fun!
